Rising Design Trends

As we are partway through 2025, there are a number of design trends that have risen to popularity and that will likely continue to be consistent into the coming years.

Biophilic Design :

Incorporating nature and natural elements into our interior spaces. This can be achieved through a number of methods, with natural materials such as wood, stone and natural fibers, with water features, by incorporating plants as a prominent design element.

Textural or dimensional accents :

Historically, a fun and simple way to add accents and interest in a space has been to use contrasting paint colors. More recently, we’ve seen an influx of texture in spaces to add feature walls while keeping the colors in a more limited palette. Using trim details, painted the same as the primary wall color, wood and even wall paper creates interest in a space through depth and texture, elevating the overall look and feel of the space.

Bold colors and color drenching :

Over the last several years, people have embraced an overwhelmingly neutral palette for the finishes in their home. This created a soft low contrast palette. We are seeing more use of bold colors, with rich saturation, in a palette I like to refer to as “moody academia. “ This consists of rich, deeply saturated colors with warm undertones. We have also seen a rise in color drenching, that is to use a single or monochromatic color palette in a space. This can add depth and drama to a space, fully saturating it.

Maximalism :

A maximalist approach to design is a space thoughtfully saturated with color, texture and patterns. This can add both drama and whimsy to a space, when done with bright bold colors and complimenting patterns.

Warm undertones :

As we see people shifting away from all graywashed spaces, we are seeing them shift back towards a palette with warmer undertones. Whether it be a prominently neutral palette, with warm tones, or spaces with pops of bold saturated color, we are seeing a rise in warm undertones. This creates a more cozy and inviting atmosphere in the home.

Curated outdoor spaces :

While we always love to spend time out doors, we are seeing a trend in thoughtfully curated outdoor spaces. People are really enjoying the outdoors, and have gone further to making their outdoor spaces flow more seamlessly with their indoor spaces. Using warm and inviting outdoor furnishings and fabrics, soft warm lighting and expanded outdoor cooking spaces to create a space that feels indoor while being outside.
